Summer Lemonade – If you are anything like me, you love summer. Growing up in Florida on the Gulf coast, I have such fond memories of frolicking on the sandy beaches of Ft. Myers, St Pete and Clearwater. Umm…actually most of my memories are of my mother and father telling us kids to not touch that (it’s dead), do not put that in your mouth (it’s dead also) and you just ate! You cannot swim for the next 8 hours so we should pack up go home to beat the traffic.
Oh, wow. That was a nice trip down memory lane. Anyways, I do remember my mother making fresh squeezed lemonade on the weekends. This is partly her recipe, I just made it better (Love you mom).
Make a simple syrup. You really need to make a simple do not cheat and just throw the sugar in with the water and lemonade. That will make it suck.
Anyways, make a simple syrup by adding the sugar and 2 cups of water to a pot on medium heat and stir to dissolve. Once dissolved, remove from heat and let cool.
Once our syrup has cooled, add freshly squeezed lemon juice (you honestly do not need me to include directions on how to squeeze lemon juice do you? If so, shoot an email to email@example.com. I promise to keep it a secret) to the syrup. Yes Mrs. Johnson I know the structure of the past sentence stinks but guess what? I am a grownup who can sit in a bean bag in his under britches eating Cheetos.
Ok, where were we… Add your syrup to the lemon juice in a pitcher and the remaining 4 cups of water and stir.
This step is tough but add ice and enjoy. I like to add lemon slices to make it look fancier.
As always, don’t just go through life…Life44 it… Live, Laugh, Love & Learn.
